Trying to condense my life on this page is impossible, especially when 65 is right around the corner. I've lived in the Council Bluffs a good portion of my life and in my childhood, my parents owned a farm out in the country.
I believe my love for animals began at that farm and it has enlightened my life more than I can attempt to explain, however that wasn't always the case.
I used to be a hunter and that's all on me, but something happened which I could not explain to you if I wanted to, regardless, one day I just decided to stop and I knew at that time that I would never kill another defenseless animal in my life and would strive to only help those that can't help themselves.
Like many of us who have had pets all of our lives, from horses, dogs, cats, geese, ducks, chickens, snakes, gerbils, parakeets etc...just taking care of them seemed menial and I felt that I should do more, hence, so in August of 2018, I created Dave's Pet Care and I haven't looked back.
Almost everyone knows the phrase keep it simple stupid and I did just that. I didn't try to recreate the wheel, I thought about what pets and their owners would want in a boarding situation? It's simple they usually want close to the experience that they would receive at home if there owners were home.
I don't believe in kennels, in my mind if I wanted to put or see an animal in a cage I would go to the zoo. I realize there are pets out there that love the security and home type feeling of their kennel and I wouldn't stand in the way of a client bringing in a kennel. However I can tell you that once the pet has had time to become acclimated with me and what other pets I may be caring for at the same time, they won't go into that kennel while staying with me.
They get the run of my home, just like they would at home, while I may not have a fenced in yard I find that most dogs would much rather go for walks so they can sniff out new areas and so we go for walks, and I walk a lot. Lack of exercise will not be an issue.
My way of caring for your pet is the same as if they are my own. And I do have my own pet, he's the ginormous white ball of hair that many people ask if he's a polar bear cub. His name is Chuck and he's the calmest, most loving lap dog you will ever meet. He's a Great Pyrenees who loves all animals and people and doesn't have a mean bone in his body, yet his size intimidates even the most confident human or animal that he comes across. Just know that Chuck would never hurt you or your pet.
Finally I invite you to look at the photo gallery. Every pet in the photo gallery are pets that I've cared for at some time. Those are just a small sample of all the pictures I have and not even close to all of the pets I have cared for. Take a minute and look, I think you will enjoy it.
And if you wonder how I can take care of everyone's pets at the same time, I can't and don't but I do hire like minded people to help us help you and they have my back. I couldn't do this without there help. Thank you for reading this, Lord knows it was long.
