Like many of us who have had pets all of our lives, we don't just take care of them, for many of us they are an extension of our family and saying taking care of them seems trivial.
Before I go on, my prices have increased but I would hope that you keep things in perspective, especially when it comes to boarding. Neither I or any of my helpers leave your pet alone, either we stay with them or they go with us. Obviously that means we are with your pet 24 hours a day. Where else can you have someone do a part-time job for you for under $50 a day? Employees of McDonald's make $15 an hour, I'll be happy to charge you $15 an hour but that would get a little pricey for 24 hours. So I only ask you to keep that in mind when you are deciding whether to use my services. I may not be the biggest care giver out there, but I think I'm the best and isn't that what we want for our pets?
I decided to become involved with pet care because I wanted to give people the opportunity to board there pet with me and my helpers in a loving environment much like their home. I started this business in 2019 and I haven't looked back.
Almost everyone knows the phrase keep it simple stupid and I did just that. I didn't try to recreate the wheel, I thought about what pets and their owners would want in a boarding situation? Many usually want their pets to experience what they would receive at home if there owners were home.
I don't believe in kennels, in my mind if I wanted to put or see an animal in a cage I would go to the zoo. I realize there are pets out there that love the security and home type feeling of their kennel and I wouldn't stand in the way of a client bringing in a kennel. However I can tell you that once the pet has had time to become acclimated with me and what other pets I may be caring for at the same time, they won't go into that kennel while staying with me.
They get the run of my home, just like they would at home, while I may not have a fenced in yard I find that most dogs would much rather go for walks so they can sniff out new areas and so we go for walks, and I walk a lot. Lack of exercise will not be an issue. I try to take them daily to the dog park weather permitting.
My way of caring for your pet is the same as if they are my own. And I do have my own pet, he's the ginormous white ball of hair that many people ask if he's a polar bear cub. His name is Chuck and he's the calmest, most loving lap dog you will ever meet. He's a Great Pyrenees who loves all animals and people and doesn't have a mean bone in his body, yet his size intimidates even the most confident human or animal that he comes across him. Just know that Chuck would never hurt you or your pet.
On a pretty depressing note, I've had pets abandoned to me more times than I care to think about, either the owners won't pay for my services, or the majority just leave the pets with me knowing I will try to find them a good home. If you are one of those people, shame on you, but if you leave your pet/pets with me without any contact or payment after 5 days, you forfeit your rights to those pets.
If you question this it's easy to prevent, pay for my services and pick up your pet. If you still don't agree with me look at Iowa Legislature 162.19 Abandoned animals destroyed. The law frowns on irresponsible owners and so do I, but the difference between us is I won't abandon your dogs.
